CleanMyMac X Review: Is It The Best Mac Cleaner Software?

CleanMyMac X review

First, let’s see some Mac problems we may encounter,

Problem 1. Frustrating! Some sticky files or apps got stuck within your system, failing your all attempts to clear it and you spent hours learning and try different shortcuts and terminal commands in order to achieve this simple task.

Problem 2. You are good at housekeeping your data and you perform the housekeeping every week but still, your storage is being invaded by some unknown application junk. How to clean that junk? Advanced users may get into the terminal and use different sets of commands to unhide all the hidden files and trace them in different directories to delete them with this fear in the back of their mind that it might not break their expensive Mac Machine. But it is a hard question to answer for a general user.

Thus, if you are a general user without so much knowledge on system and computer, you may like to use a Mac system clean software like CleanMyMac X. But does it perform like what it said?  You may like to read this CleanMyMac X review to know it better.

What is CleanMyMac X? My Own Opinion

CleanMyMac X is developed by MacPaw, a company that released Mac programs such as The Unarchiver (the well-known free RAR opener for Mac).

MacPaw products include CleanMyMac X and The Unarchiver

CleanMyMac X is the latest version after the CleanMyMac 3 and the Classic version releases. I’ve personally used this app to have a deep test, and the result makes me believe that CleanMyMac X is a utility that every Mac owner should own to keep their machine always in good health. The big benefit of this app I think is saving time for a complete and safe cleanup, including clean the storage space, uninstall your unwanted app with the leftovers, and optimize the RAM use on your Mac.

If you don’t know much knowledge about the technique of system and computer, you are recommended to try CleanMyMac X. It’s easy to download and install, and it is safe to use to clean up your computer. Besides, it is updated and always ready to be used with the latest versions of OSX such as Catalina.

Is CleanMyMac X Safe to Use?

CleanMyMac X is proven to be safe to use, and you can download it through its official website or from the Mac App Store. In addition, this program was recommended by the famous tech sites like TechCrunch and Cult of Mac.

Is it safe to install? Can this app be easily uninstalled?

Once you download the utility from its official download page, you can open the .dmg file, and in the dialogue box simply drag the utility to the application folder, also if prompted, make sure to add this utility in the list of trusted applications. If not prompted you can go to simply do it by going to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General’ and allow CleanMyMac. Surely, you can easily uninstall CleanMyMac if you don’t like it.

CleanMyMac X Free vs Paid

Even on the trial basis, all the features and tools of CleanMyMac are available to test. The features like Cleanup, Security, and Optimization are available in the same utility. But the limit is that the trial version of the application lets the user clean only 500Mbs of System Junk and only allows completely remove one application.

Pro version whereas performs all the tasks of storage cleanup and Mac system optimization. Thus, CleanMyMac free vs Paid is totally different user experience, once you try the paid /pro version of the application, your mac machines appear to be boosted and wound up.  Of course, it’s not free, you will pay at least $34.95 to use all the features. CleanMyMac gives you more price plans than other Mac Cleaner programs.

How Does CleanMyMac X maintain your Apple Mac Machine for Better Performance?

CleanMyMac X provides you with cleanup procedures including cleaning the caches, system junk, unused old files, obsolete update packages, photo clutter such as screenshot and duplicates, trash bins, and large attachments existing redundantly within the system. Let’s see each of these features:

Cleanup

Mac OSX is a UNIX based operating system, the complex but well-organized directory system makes it difficult for the users to manually clear the temporary files generated by processes of different system and third-party applications. The main library is a hidden folder and it contains the supporting files for all the system and third-party applications. CleanMyMac assesses the files within all the directories and cleans the clutter. Once system Cleanup is run on the system, the user can manually review all the files selected by the utility for deletion.

Running the cleanup on photos junk helps you get rid of unnecessary duplicates of images and also helps you review all the screenshot and downloaded images within the systems. Trashes in OSX is a structured folder, sometimes files stick into the bins due to applications requirement and hence we get a sticky bin, CleanMyMac helps clear all the files moved into the trash bin but still keep the toll on the system storage.

After the deletion of the user from a particular machine, let’s say a temporary user you created for a friend for a joint project, will have temporary files with the library. Deleting these files is an impossible task but CleanMyMac helps you clear those files.

Privacy & Malware Protection

CleanMyMac X helps you find malware and files with weird file permissions. These files requiring unstructured file permission may lead your system to collapse, such sort of bugs and malware files are undetectable, CleanMyMac utility helps you find these malware and delete them from the system. With no worries about the viruses and malware the user experience is enhanced and an improved system environment helps you enjoy the system’s capabilities.

Speed Optimization and Maintenance

Random Access Memory RAM and Processor Cache are the major two integral components hosting all the essential data for system applications to work. If applications are not closed properly the data from those applications keep residing with the RAM. High RAM usage slows down the system performance and sometimes halts the system. Cleaning RAM and Cache is a matter of clicks within CleanMyMac and the system starts running again like a new system. But the user should be aware of the all the applications running within the system at that time, if there is an application such as Adobe Premier exporting the files, cleaning the RAM and Cache may halt the processing and premier may crash.

DNSflush using a terminal command is also cumbersome, CleanMyMac utility helps flush the DNS and helps your network have a fresh startup.

Large format Data Search

CleanMyMac X helps the spotlight of OSX to verify and catalog the data with all the internal and external storage. Indexing the large file formats and sorting them out for deletion based on how old these files are is the major feature of CleanMyMac X. Video Files and zip/archived files are searched and sorted for review of the user to shred the unnecessary files so that storages remain fresh and updated for better performance of the system.

Additional features of the offered by CleanMyMac in comparison with CleanMyMac alternative application, are updating the installed application and helping user clean uninstall of the third-party applications and utilities. This Utility is a complete package of system’s housekeeper with also tracks and logs are the essential activity performed.

Tenorshare iCareFone Review: Does It Really Better Than iTunes?

icarefone-review

I installed Tenoreshare iCareFone on my Windows laptop and tested all of the iCareFone features to manage my iPhone 7s data. And this is my personal opinion with the things I like and I don’t like about this software. Read this iCareFone review to know more.

What is iCareFone?

Nearly all iOS users are quite familiar with iTunes for managing the data of the apple devices. Tenorshare iCareFone is mostly like iTunes help iOS users to transfer, backup, and manage files. And its vendor Tenorshare aims to do better.

Tenorshare iCareFone Review

What I like

Tenorshare iCareFone offers you some benefits, which are also the features I like most.

1.  One-click export and backup only the files you selected to PC

Whole data backup is time-consuming and cumbersome as we do not need to restore all data in every restore or archive, iCareFone can make a customized iPhone backup as you like. Additionally, it’s very easy using iCareFone to transfer selected data like pictures, files, contacts, and apps from iPhone to Windows PC very efficiently.

2. Restore specific files from computer to iPhone

Similarly, data can be viewed and restored from previously made backups on PC with customization.

3. Besides transferring, it offers a lot of useful tools.

  • Removes duplicate files during backup or data transfer.
  • Backup and Restore social media apps like Whatsapp.
  • 1-Click Remove apps in batch.
  • Fix iOS problems like system crash.

What I Don’t Like

iCareFone had a very sluggish response while loading and backup of messages (SMS).  Moreover, the free version of the software has very few features available. You can see the iCareFone free vs paid version on the below.

Tenorshare Free vs Paid
Tenorshare Free vs Paid

You can’t use iOS repair and social app transfer features in the free trial. And most of the features are limited if you don’t pay. The price of a licensed version starts from $35.95. The best choice is to buy its lifetime license with 49.95 dollars since this license code can be used on a computer for a lifetime, no matter how many iOS devices you connected to.

Is Tenorshare iCareFone Safe to Use?

iCareFone is very secure as during downloading and installation, anti-virus software installed on my Windows did not give any warning of spam or malware. Moreover, whenever an iPhone gets connected with the laptop, it always prompts for the passcode to allow access to the device data. During backup and transfer, iCareFone assures that data is not lost or corrupted.

iCareFone Alternative

iMazing

iMazing is a good-designed alternative to iTunes. Most of the articles listed it as the No.1 of iPhone transfer software. Besides transferring data between iPhone and computer, it also extracts files from iTunes backups. Well-compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems, iMazing will be a good tool to manage your iOS devices in various situations.

Syncios Manager Ultimate (Mac/Windows)

Syncios supports android along with iOS. Its’ free version has a similar option to transfer specific files from smart-phones to PC/Mac. It also supports data transfer from device to device.

AnyTrans

iMobie AnyTrans could be another well-known phone data manager you can use on a PC and a Mac. This program also collected a bunch of tools you may like to use, such as the ringtone maker and screen mirror.

Conclusion

I safely installed and carefully tested all features of Tenorshare iCareFone. My experience of interacting with this software is amazing. And it’s a perfect replacement for iTunes. But keep in mind this is commercial software, and you’ll pay for using all its features. Surely it saves you time to transfer and backup data on your iOS devices, and you know iOS devices have very strict restrictions, and actually, iTunes is very difficult to use.

iBoySoft Mac Data Recovery Review, Does It Work to Recover Files from Mac Computer?

iBoysoft data reocvery review

Data loss is a big problem for people who have no tech knowledge. To retrieve lost data from the device, it requires the assistance of IT professional data recovery service or software like iBoySoft data recovery.

iBoySoft Mac data recovery review from makeuseof.com
iBoySoft Mac data recovery review from makeuseof.com

iBoySoft Mac data recovery was recommended by MakeUseOf.com last year. To let you know the recent situation of iBoySoft, I tested the latest version of this program and give you my personal opinion, with the pros, cons and something you may not know.

About iBoySoft

iBoySoft is a company for developing software on computer data management and data security. Since being founded in 2017, this company continually released computer-based programs including Data Recovery Kits, File Protector, Drive Manager and NTFS for Mac.

In spite of only 3 years of history, this company is trustworthy on the whole since most of its programs got recommended by well-known tech websites like Softpedia.com.  I installed its NTFS for Mac before  and this software worked well to solve my problem of writing documents and files into Microsoft Drive.

My Personal Opinion on iBoySoft Mac Data Recovery

iBoySoft Data Recovery for Mac is one cost-effective and easy to use solution for people who are seeking methods to get back lost or deleted files. It is safe without viruses and it does give people a chance to recover lost photos, documents, and other kinds of files from the computer or the external drives mounted to your computer.

What I Like

1. Easy to Use Interface

It clearly shows the drive it is scanning, it puts the files and information into the right categories, and it provides you with a Search Bar so that you can quickly get the pieces you lost. This user-friendly design is great for people who don’t know much about tech knowledge.

2. Recover Up to 1GB for Free and Relatively Cheap Price

iBoySoft is not guaranteed a 100% success rate for data recovery but gives a trial edition to recover up to 1GB data for free. Besides, it has a relatively cheap price comparing to other brands. This saves your money if you want to upgrade for a pro for deep scanning.

iBoySoft gives 1 GB free for data recovery on computer
iBoySoft gives 1 GB free for data recovery on computer

3. Support Latest macOS Catalina

This program runs well on my MacBook Pro which I recently update to macOS Catalina. I also tested it in macOS Sierra (Version 10.12.2). Both worked well to scan my deleted files.

4. It’s Safe, Without Viruses and Without Ads.

We know that the freeware is always inserted with ads or viruses. Well, this mac data recovery is safe and clean. The whole process is without ads showing up. And I used antivirus software to scan the installer before starting the test, and the result shows this software is 100% clean.

In the end, it’s easy to uninstall this program from my Mac after the testing.

What I Don’t Like

1. Take Too Much Time to Scan

It takes me over 30 minutes to have a deep scan for my MacBook Air which has stored about 110G documents and files.  It could take much longer if you want to scan a larger storage computer, it may be several hours.

2. Few Deleted Files Founded

Not all files that you emptied from Mac Trash can be retrieved back using this program. Before testing iBoySoft mac data recovery, I emptied my trash bin to see whether this software could get back those permanently deleted data. But after a deep scan, there is only one file getting back.

Conclusion

iBoySoft doesn’t guarantee a 100% success rate for data recovery.  But it is easy to use and has the ability to get the files mistaken-deleted or deeply-hidden in your Mac startup disk. It worth trying because you can use the free edition to scan first and then choose whether to buy the pro. And last, this company offers a reasonable refund policy.

All the words in this post are my personal opinion. If you have any ideas, don’t hesitate to comment on the bottom.

iMyFone D-Back Review – Does It Work to Recover iPhone Data?

iMyFone D-Back Review

Note: You are reading a very-long review article for iMyFone D-Back.

iMyFone D-Back was listed as the top 1 while I was searching on Google with the query “iPhone data recovery”. This program is also being listed on lots of media websites as one of top iOS data recovery programs.

To know this app and its vender better, I’ve searched for the reviews of iMyFone D-Back on the Internet. But the mixed reviews I got seem not helpful for me to build a unified view for this software. While it gets just a 1-star rating on Trustpilot, it gains almost a 5-star rating on other top Mac app downloading sites like MacUpdate and Softonic.

All of these make me confused and put me to test and review this app for knowing the fact whether it is able to get back the data people lost or deleted. And I would like to tell you the truth in this post.

What is iMyFone D-Back?

iMyFone D-Back is one iPhone data recovery software that was created by iMyfone Technology Co., Ltd, which is one company located in Shenzhen of China. This software program has been designed to ensure that iOS users are able to get back the data that they accidentally lost or deleted in various situations, as well as giving the methods to fix some iOS issues.

Is iMyFone D-Back Safe to Use for My Data and My System?

Since I have a Windows system, I tested iMyFone D-Back on my Windows 7 Ultimate Vaio system to recover the data I’ve deleted on my iPhone. And sent the DMG installer to my friend Richard for a test on his MacBook

When I first downloaded, I was worried that it would have some sort of malware or virus since the company is not well known; however, I was pleasantly surprised when I downloaded it and my antivirus was not triggered at all. Not only is it free of viruses and malware, but it also does not contain the typically bundled software programs.

During my usage, I noticed that the scanning procedure it uses only reads the data; it doesn’t try to change anything, so I definitely knew that my existing data was safe. iMyFone obviously put safety in mind when it created this software, and this is basic for any apps.

Well, enough chatter about its bells and whistles, let’s see what it can actually do.

To Install This Software

To begin with, the download and install are seamless. The application launches quite quickly. But after the full launch, it popped up a comparison of its free plan and paid plan. Obviously, it is driving people to pay for the pro version just like most of the similar commercial apps.

iMyFone D-Back free vs paid

iMyFone D-Back Free vs. Paid

On the pop-up window, it shows that the Trial version is restricted from fixing iOS issues and recovering data back to the device. It’s okay since the trial version is enough for me to have this test completed, at least it says it can preview deleted or lost data on my iPhone.

For Pro, you have to pay for extra money.

Let’s see how much the Pro version of D-Back cost

Its price seems a little expensive but it’s okay since it offers a money-back guarantee.

There is a Basic Plan that cost less than $50.00, what you get is the opportunity to use this software on one device for a whole year. The next plan up the tier is the family plan that lets you use 2-5 devices for life all for $70. The Multi-user plan is the highest plan that lets you anything from a 6-unlimited number of devices, with the price ranging from $300-600.

To Recover Data using iMyFone D-Back [Review]

On the left side of the first screen, iMyFone gives you 5 options. And 4 of them could be used to do the data recovery. They are, Smart Recovery, Recover from iOS Device, Recover from iTunes Backup, and Recover from iCloud Backup. And below are my complete tests and personal take on these recovery ways.

Smart Recovery

After clicking Start to use the Smart Recovery feature, you will get some data loss scenarios to choose from. And each one will drive you to a related solution. In a nutshell, this feature is just a smart navigate for you to choose the suitable data recovery solution.

iMyFone D-Back Smart Recovery
iMyFone D-Back Smart Recovery

For example, if you click the scenario “Lost or deleted data by accident”, it will suggest you use the solution of directly recovering from the device.

It doesn’t make any real recovery, but it is a good design for users to quickly find a suitable solution based on their specific situations.

Recover from iOS Device

This is the key feature of an iPhone data recovery program. Actually, most of the people are in a situation of “no backup files stored on the computer or the Cloud”. So they are seeking a solution to recovering without backup. Then how does iMyFone D-Back work to directly get back lost data from the device?

iMyFone D-Back Review
iMyFone D-Back Recover Deleted Data

In fact, it takes me one hour and a half in scanning and analyzing my device. But it just got a few deleted items, including a piece of message chats and several phone numbers with “Unknown” names. It has a low success rate of data recovery using iMyFone D-Back. But, it’s possible that you may get those you deleted or lost.

Recover from iTunes Backup

This feature works only if you’ve ever used iTunes to back up your iPhone or iPad. The test result shows that iMyFone is capable of extract most of the data from my iTunes backups, even without connecting my iPhone.

This feature would be very helpful if some people want to preview the contents on the compressed backup files, or just want to extract data from her/his backup file for a lost/stolen iPhone.

Notice that it may take you hours to finish the scanning of your backup file.  So be patient if you are going to use this feature. 🙂

Use iMyFone D-Back to scan a iTunes backup

Recover from iCloud Backup

This feature required me to log in with my Apple ID and passcode to access the contents on my iCloud server. But it failed to connect my iCloud after several attempts. So I didn’t have a deep test on this feature.

Fix iOS System

This is the last feature of iMyFone D-Back, and it provides 3 methods to help you easily fix some common iOS system issues. For example, if your iPhone stuck on black and white Apple, or keeps restarting, you can use the Standard Mode to get the problem solved.

Or you forgot the passcode to unlock your iPhone, you can use the Advanced Mode to remove the passcode so that you can use your device again.

iMyFone D-Back feature - Fix iOS System
iMyFone D-Back feature – Fix iOS System

I didn’t test this feature since I know how exactly it works.

Actually, it just reset your device to default setting via downloading and installing the firmware, which can absolutely restore the system of your iOS device back to normal. And people can do this manually without using a third-party app but the process may be a little complex for people who don’t know much about iOS tech skills. And it’s good that this app makes it simple to do this work.

My Overall Experience and My Opinion on D-Back

I wanted to recover my text messages, contacts, and notes. The recovery process took a bit of time to get going. That’s one of the things that frustrated me about this software. It took far much longer than I had anticipated restoring my data. And I wasn’t able to retrieve all the data I wanted. My notes were the major thing I wanted to restore, but for some reason, the system failed to do it.

What I did like, however, was how user-friendly the interface was. You don’t have to be technologically adept to use this software. The installation process is also seamless. It is basically just a click and you’re ready to restore your data. In addition, it works to preview data from my backup that I saved to my computer, and it scanned some deleted items finally. At least, this software gives the chance to get back lost data.

iMazing Review: It’s Useful But Unnecessary

imazing review featured img

You may have come across a time when you accidentally drop your phone into the toilet, drop it from the third floor of a building, or drop it into the gap between the train and the platform. And then, you realize that you haven’t backed up your phone since you bought it.

My Personal Take

For my testing, the ability to add ringtones to my iPhone from my MacBook Air with iMazing is awesome. In the past, if you want to have your custom ringtones, you have to download Garageband and Documents by Readdle from the App Store, download the song you want using Documents by Readdle, shorten it using Garageband and select it as your ringtone in Settings. Now, all I have to do is download the song I want, save it to my MacBook Air, drag it into iMazing and That’s it!

However, for transferring items between my iPhone and MacBook Air, I prefer AirDrop as I’m in the Apple ecosystem. I can transfer photos, videos, texts, websites, notes, files and more with just a tap. No need to connect iPhone or drag and drop items. Plus, the process takes less than 10 seconds. And, AirDrop is built into every Apple device running iOS 7 or later.

As for Backing up and restoring backups, the process is pretty much the same as iTunes. Except for one thing: the price. iMazing is a paid app. Below are the configurations:

  • Single Plan: US$45
  • Universal Plan: US$50
  • Family Plan: US$70

Honestly, when you can basically do everything with a built-in app called iTunes, why would you pay for a third-party app, plus it isn’t cheap.

Conclusion

To sum up, I would say iMazing is a great alternative to iTunes because it’s simpler, easier to use, and more efficient. However, I’m in Apple’s ecosystem so AirDrop is better for me. And, I won’t recommend Windows users to try it, because you can easily download iTunes from the Windows Store and it’s free. Again, why will you pay for another app that does the same thing?
